Just got an e-mail from palinstravels.co.uk - Michael has posted a great news there:

"I'm also working on a preliminary edit of the second volume of my Diaries - covering the 1980s, when all I seemed to do was make films - Time Bandits, Meaning Of Life, Brazil, The MIssionary, Private Function and a Fish Called Wanda - until the offer came to present a programme called Around The World In Eighty Days, which led to... well, Palin's travels"

Fantastic!!!

I had hoped so much that he would write a second volume!

Just got the Missionary script today, I do have to scan in a lot of pictures now from the Pythons, Terry and Mikey...

Love,

xoxo

sure.. sicher... no problem

sure.. sicher... no problem ... kein problem.

just send me your e-mail address, either as a message or post it here,
mine is: christina_h_3000@yahoo.de

well, and then you should tell me what to send to you, 'cause i really have a lot of pics, but also with watermarks (which i hate, 'cause they ruin the pics most of the time and i really want to avoid posting them here, but surely you'd be interested in them too)

i also have to admit that i have more pics of mikey rather than jonesy, because pics of him are pretty rare online... and there aren't many fansites, actually none of them are up to date and i am too busy with my studies and my own little fansite on myspace for an actor named jeremy brett to make a tribute to jonesy now.

but a friend of mine has recently thought about making a new python site, which i think would be lovely.. though i love pythonline.com our gallery is far too small to post everything, we should be able to open our own galleries, then we wouldn't have to post all in just one - like here...

i actually wished myself

i actually wished myself that terry would publish his diaries as well, i mean, in the python biography there were parts of it published.. i am sure he could just do the same as michael..
it's a bit sad that michael got so many books about himself published and terry none.
he should really really think about it!!!

Well

well I don't think that Terry is too upset about that. I think he has had the most books published out of all of them. Just because he writes about so many subjects. Both non-fiction and fiction, children's books and historical novels. Not to mention all the screen plays he has written for theatre and on-screen. He has always said that he is first a writer and he started when he was 7 years old and it has just been always the first way he identifies himself when people ask what do you do. I think if he wanted to publish his diaries, he could. I would definitely read them not just cause I adore Terry but I love his writing style.

don't get me wrong, i do

don't get me wrong, i do love his books, especially the ones about chaucer, but you know, it's a bit frustrating that michael got even two biographies and terry got none.
and even the diaries, i would really love to know more about jonesy...

Probably

there's also the question of privacy. I don't know about you guys, and here Mikey is a exception, but when I write my diary, I don't expect anyone to read it - actually that's the main point, nobody gets to read it.

Even I don't read them. That's why I never put any dates on my entries. The diary for me is just a way to stay sane during tough times.

Anyway, I might just be babbeling. Maybe he just hasn't had the time to do it. Or the intrest.

Oh, why didn't you say you're an old customer?

i keep a diary since the age

i keep a diary since the age of four, but mainly a diary of whom i meet and what places i visit. i think it was a great idea of michael to publish his diaries, because we get to know so much about the work he was doing, and well, i don't think that's bad to do that.
and about the privacy matter, you don't have to publish everything you written, right?!

Well obviously

not but like in my case, there wouldn't be that much to "publish" after a little privacy scan. *grin*

And then never comes

to Australia, because I'm the only person here who knows who he is.

Does it surprise anyone else that he ever kept a diary?

Yours etc.,

hah!

Well, there arent many die hard python fans such as myself here in NY.

yeah, now that I think of it, a 65 year old man keeping a diary. hah. only a python can do that I'm afraid.
