Sanjeev Bhaskar on Desert Island Disks

Sanjeev Bhaskar, currently playing King Arthur in Spamalot at the Palace Theatre in London's West End, was the guest on this week's Desert Island Disks on BBC Radio 4. Needless to say, one of the disks he chose was a Python record, and even less needless to say (can you say that? should it be 'more' needless to say?) - it was a song from Spamalot - sort of. The 5th disk of his choice of 8 was "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" but, rather than being the recording from the Spamalot soundtrack CD, they played the original.

Annoyingly, for rights reasons, it is not possible to Listen Again to Desert Island Disks on the BBC website (someone should complain!), so I can't give you a transcript of what he said about the song, but from memory, he said something like, "I have to pinch myself every time I have to sing that song. It is one of the best feel good songs of all time. It's a song with a message." I think Kirsty Young, the presenter, sees it merely as a bit of fun and so didn't wholeheartedly agree.
