Spamalot London closes - it's the end of an era

I went to see Spamalot (with Harry) for the 6th and last time ever because, sadly, it was Spamalot London's final performance.

barfolishus: It closed on Broadway recently as well! Thankfully I was able to see it in June of '08 in New York. But on my recent trip to London in November I sadly didn't have an oppurtunity to see Spamalot at the Palace Theatre. I told myself, "I'll definitly come and see it next time I visit London in the springtime." and Bah Humbug.

I'm a Lady!

johnalexwood: To be perfectly honest, I don't really keep my Python stuff in a drawer. I really keep it in a suspension file but I didn't like to say. File contents: newspaper cuttings, a 7th Level poster, film cells of some of Gilliam's movies, Spamalot programmes, Spamalot tickets, Spamalot confetti, 1994 Ink Group calendar. However, Brazil has its own suspension file, of course :)

... in a special place... in the heart... and on the drawer... and on the wall... and on the table... and on the closet... That's us, right, John? The small tresures.

That's right Johnny! :)

Wherever it suites our little hearts, displayed wherever we are in most comfort at home. Currently a bookshelf in my case :D The absolute greatest treasure though is how I feel ultimately throughout everyday as a result of Python :)

CamelSpotter at 8:52 pm January 05

The abstract optimism and sense of humor gained from Python are priceless. I AM still rather materialistic, though. Python books on the shelf, posters on the walls, music on the piano (pardon me, I'm off to play the grand piano), calendar on the desk, and so on and so forth. It would really be fascinating to get a tour of all the PythOnline member's collections, spread throughout our homes..."Wherever it suites our little hearts," as Lady April said.

johnalexwood: Well there still are a few clips of the show on YouTube I think. There shouldn't be (for copyright reasons) but there are.

Lady April: Is that right? It is done all over the world?

johnalexwood at 12:55 pm January 04

It's still on in New York till 11 Jan and the US tour is still happening. And there's going to be a tour in Germany as well!

Lady April at 6:17 pm January 04

I might still have a chance then, if it comes back to my NW area of the States anyway :)

CamelSpotter at 6:23 pm January 04

If I'm not mistaken, Spamalot is going to Spokane, WA in May.

Did you go when it was in Seattle?

Lady April at 8:03 pm January 04

It is a wonderful drive anyway. The first 2 1/2 hours are through the Cascade mountain range :) Oh cool! Road trip to Spamalot!
Although Spamalot is good Spokane is a silly place.

crzyltvn at 8:13 pm January 04

A road trip to Spokane really does sound amazing. Except I'd be barreling through the Rockies. And maybe the Cascades...I don't know because my geography of the U.S. is pretty bad. Dude...someday, I am sooooo doing a road trip to Washington State!

Well you're dead now, so shut up!

Lady April at 8:37 pm January 04

if Spamalot is in fact going to be in Spokane you can drive up here and we can go together! DOOD!!!

crzyltvn at 8:49 pm January 04

I'm still going to be in school. Spamalot doesn't count as good excuse apparently either. Dude!

Well you're dead now, so shut up!

Lady April at 6:57 am January 05

Oh piss!

crzyltvn at 5:55 pm January 05

that doesn't mean I won't try!

Well you're dead now, so shut up!

CamelSpotter at 4:20 pm January 04

I didn't hear about the Germany tour. Thanks for sharing!

Johnnyrose at 3:40 pm January 04

... so I heard... but Portugal...

"Welease Bwian!"

Johnnyrose: ... I haven't see it not even once...
... if it only came to Portugal...

"Welease Bwian!"

CamelSpotter: I still can't believe Spamalot is closing all over the world. West End, Broadway, Vegas...okay, not ALL over the world, but everywhere it opened except the North American tour. It's so sad.

The last performance must have been incredible. I would have loved to be there for the speech. I already envy you for seeing the show six times! May you treasure the confetti always...

Yes the confetti has been carefully filed in my Python archive drawer!

CamelSpotter at 4:21 pm January 04

I'm not the only one with a Python archive drawer.

crzyltvn at 5:22 pm January 04

Here's mine...more like a shelf actually, but still an archive.

Well you're dead now, so shut up!

Johnnyrose at 5:25 pm January 04

... now that's what a caleed a great shelf!

"Welease Bwian!"

Johnnyrose at 5:00 pm January 04

... without de DVD's and VHS... last summer. Now it's a little bigger, with te cards from Hanry and other stuff...

"Welease Bwian!"

johnalexwood at 6:31 am January 06

Wow - Respect!

crzyltvn at 5:24 pm January 04

Now that is a very nice and large archive!

Well you're dead now, so shut up!

Johnnyrose at 5:31 pm January 04

... you know, I've been a Python fan for almost 30 years...
... but I didn't had the luck to see Spamalot, so I don't have the tickets in my closet... like some lucky guys that saw 6 times...

"Welease Bwian!"

crzyltvn at 5:32 pm January 04

would help wouldn't it?
I have not seen Spamalot either. I've seen the theatre in London where it was (I regret not taking a picture), but not the show itself.

Well you're dead now, so shut up!

Johnnyrose at 5:34 pm January 04

... you were closer to the show that I ever will... Hehehe

"Welease Bwian!"

CamelSpotter at 5:02 pm January 04

I love the action figures. I've been wanting to post a photo of my collection, but I have trouble consolidating all my Python paraphernalia.
