The Day I Lost My Python Virginity

I was 9 in 1969 and my little head just wasn’t developed enough to understand Python when the show was first on the telly, but I do remember when I first watched it at least.

I am the youngest in the family and have 2 brothers, 5 and 6 years older than me. In 1969, once the word had spread, the show was a ‘must-see’ to my brothers’ age group. So when it was on, our living room would be packed out with my brothers and all their hippy friends, everyone crowded around our black & white TV. I was told in no uncertain terms to be completely silent and I distinctly remember not being allowed to eat crisps during the show because of the noise that the crisp packet would make.

So I saw it and, afterwards, I had no idea what the hell I had been watching! In any case, Where’s the circus? I asked myself!

As you now know, I went on to become possessed by Python in all its forms and yet both my brothers, today, are rather indifferent about it. Huh?

So how is it, I hear you ask, that Python ended up taking over my soul (well, at least the way I see the world) after such an ignominious start?

All will be revealed, my friends, in the next thrilling episode…

Lori Becker: I remember I was 11 ,I was babysitting and the only thing on tv was the late late show. It was The Holy Grail and I came in on the part where the Black Knight is down to one leg I was mesmerized by the whole thing and that is precisely where my Python addiction began!

So, Have you seen Spamalot yet?

Lemming_Of_The_BDA: How can they be indifferent about python?!

Well I'm glad you came around....
the question now indeed is

I brush my teeth everyday.
"Know what I mean? Wink wink. Nudge nudge. Say no more! Say no more!"

themontyfreak: I first saw Monty Python in when I was in third grade (age 6 or 7) and it was part of "The Holy Grail", but I didn't understand it at all. I've liked Monty Python moderately up until 7th grade (11 or 12) when I bought "Monty Python Live" and it too, has taken over my soul. I have AT LEAST a $600 (USD) collection and it has only been about 5 years since.

I actually have a website devoted to Monty Python that was for a project that was due January 18th and it has yet to be placed online.
