normaly, I really like it in here. I have made nice friends and had interesting talks. this is one of the 2 comunitys Im logged in to every day.
but these SPAMMERS! it has been quiet for a while now, but today a spammer of links to what I assume was porn showed up. PORN! and yes, I know python is like porn for most of us haha, but Im talking real porn. in here! I will shout out the username so all of you as well can let him/her know that isent welcome in here. the username is nogush.
I have to say I agree with a opinion Ive heard before, why not do so every new member have to answer 3-5 python-related questions. lets say we create about 100 questions, both multiple choise and answers you have to type yourself and then 3 or 5 of them show up at random for every new person who register, that way its never the same questions every time.
that should make the spammers give up, but we could have a explination over the questions on why they are there, no self-respecting python-fan would not be slowed down by that.
so this is a pleeding for whoever runs this site. I know it must be a hell of a pain in the ass to have to delete all of that shit, and I dont know anything on how to build websites/comunitys, but I dont think it should be so hard to do this, should it?

GloriaTheWarrior: I like the idea of a quiz test thingy but , many python fans are really really new and dont know every python sketch........like me
how about just to quote some things or the statement why you want to be here is a cool idea..or maybe both things together and then the community have to decide if welcome or not! ..:)
Mousebender: Might be a bit simplistic but can't the html be disabled in posts. Then there would be no point in anyone trying to spam because links wouldn't work. There would just be annoying ads on the site for a while.

also couldn't this site's access code prevent spam by blocking access to requests which don't originate from this domain.
Using a CAPTCHA to get round spambots is annoying for regular users but there are plenty of articles about blocking spam using other methods.
CAPTCHA is on it's way to the site. :)

YAY! :)
Hanri: because they're gonna fix the whole site in time. In the somewhat nearby future. Really.
It's not as bad as it used to be, in my humble opinion. *touch wood* Though I KNOW it's bad.

ah ok. well, I havent been a member for so long yet, just a few months. but they just destroy the otherwise so good mood in here, witch I think is a real drag and a big insult to our beloved pythons.
I must have been lucky, then, although I am new. I haven't noticed any spam - but then perhaps I'm not clicking on it - or could it be my firewall stops it ? Mrs Flopsy has twied to expwain it to me but I still don't weally understand. My expewience so far has all been of one hell of a fun site. Is there anywhere on the site which shows us newbies what to look out for ? and ... Who has to clear all the spam ?
nono, since they post the spam as replys to other pepoles messages your firewall cant do anything. what you can do yourself if you see any is to not click at the links. sometimes they get money for everytime someone clicks in on the site, or maybe most times even, why would they otherwise do it. *sighs*
its hanri and gna42 that clears out the spam and report the spammers so they can be deleted from this site. so if you do see anything, drop a mail to any of them.
and how to regognize spam you ask. well, it could eiter look like a serious message (but when you begin to read it has hardly anything to do with the original message that its a reply to) with text and then links (that appears in fatter and blacker letters than the rest) or its just one long list of links and nothing else. another thing that is usual is that the same person has posted the same message in as meny threads/bogs/whatever as is possible.
I am always suspicious when I see a message with links as I described them above, and never click on any of the links.
