alice in wonderland

a bit of topic, but I know there are burton-fans in here too.
so, today I went to see "alice in wonderland" and it was exacty the visual orgasm I knew it would be.
the mad hatter (johnny) was scottish! he even had a kilt on in the end. you all know what UK-accents does to me.
helena was dead-sexy, even with that big head. white queen was beautiful. they had a jabberwocky (guess who THAT made me think of) and bot alan rickman and stephen fry had perfect casting.
it felt a bit like an old uncensored (all blood and violence and gore left in) story by the brothers grimm.
so see it as soon as you can!

Unfortunately that was sold out, so we saw it in 3D. Did you go yet, Holly?

Holly at 10:27 am March 09

no, I've been sick, as tempted as I am to infect the theater, I hurt too much all over to move more then is necessary.

thewastelandr at 1:22 pm March 09

:( Oh dear! I hope you get better fast! Is Connor sick too? Yuck... all my friends in Boston are sick this week too. I'm glad I "escaped" to Michigan before it hit! Feel better dear!

Holly at 9:42 pm March 09

I'm getting better, its seems to have only hit the girls in my family. Better or not, I'm going to see Michael Buble in concert tomorrow :)

YAY! Can't wait to hear about it!

arkennedy: Has anyone here ever seen Friday Night With Jonathan Ross? I get BBC America and it's one of my favorite shows on that channel. Anyway on Friday March, 5 (Although if you live in the U.K. you may have seen it before that) Tim Burton and Johnny Depp were on the show talking about Alice in Wonderland (as well as other things).

Here are the links to the videos that someone was kind enough to upload:

Holly: I can't wait to hear his scottish accent! I was supposed to go see it today, but literally everybody around is getting sick w/ some stomach virus.

thewastelandr at 7:05 am March 07

Poor Holly! It's stomach flu season in MA too right now. I hope you get to see it soon!

Holly at 10:47 am March 07

me too <3 I'll see it, even if I have to infect the theater to do so

thewastelandr at 10:58 am March 07

Hahaha... do it!!!

the_thina at 8:27 pm March 06

wel, its not as thick as groundskeeper willy or tim the enchainter, BUT IT IS THERE!

Romanes Eunt Domus at 11:00 am March 07

Craig Ferguson was making fun of it on Friday, since Depp said he was using a Glaswegian accent and Ferguson's from Glasgow.

Holly at 10:48 am March 07

ooh, what a tease

the_thina at 10:51 am March 07

sorry, just had to say it, since I love UK-accents.

Holly at 10:54 am March 07

I do too, they're hot :) I wasn't calling you a tease :) It just popped into my head when I thought of him w/ an accent

thewastelandr: Seeing it tomorrow... IMAX! Wahoo!! Can't wait to hear Stephen... going to swoon!

the_thina at 2:15 pm March 06

yeah, it was so awsome. I never wanted it to end. I wanted to go inside it and walk around. (I did not see it in 3d, those 3d-glasses dont work on me. my rational brain wont allow me to see something in 3d that I know is not in 3d, so I have to be drunk, stoned or very tired for 3d to work on me) but wanted to go inside and touch and smell everything.

sit-on-my-face: Yay! I'm watching it tuesday!! It's going to be glorious! (Completely random, but my cat's name is Alice...)

the_thina at 2:17 pm March 06

oh yes it is! tim burton is the only other director that even comes close to gilliam. david lynch comes pretty close, sometimes, but havent seen enough of his work to know for sure about him

sit-on-my-face at 3:23 pm March 06

I've only seen elephant man and I think it's wonderful work. Burton is my... second or third favourite director! He has done so much for cinema. (I also adore gus van sant, ang lee and almodovar)

the_thina at 3:28 pm March 06

you should see one of his more spaced out works. like mullholland drive, lost highway or why not twin peaks. those are the ones that got me liking him.

sit-on-my-face at 4:01 pm March 06

I think I saw eraserhead a looooong time ago... but I don't remember it that much.

the_thina at 5:53 pm March 06

dont remember so much of that one either. but I can give you one of my favourite lynch-moments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMiXphbCR04 but dont watch all parts since there are some bigtime spoilers later on, but not in this

sit-on-my-face at 1:17 pm March 07

Wow... That midget is really freackin me out! Thanks, great... mind escape!
