Favorite episode?

I was watching Episode 9, "An Ant, An Introduction" and I was thinking to myself that this is a great episode. Probably one of their best. It has a lot of my favorites, "Llamas", "The Lumberjack Song" "Gumby Crooner", I could go on. Basically, I think this one has some of their best sketches. But I open the discussion to you. Which episode would you say is your favorite episode? I feel confident enough to say that this is my favorite episode, but then again, I might change my mind next week.

l_wojcik: At the moment, I cannot remember which episodes they are but I know which dvd is my favourite. I own the 16 Ton Mega- Set. My favourite DVD is number 7 containing the stripping Secretaryof State, the Attila the Hun Show, Close Order Swanning About and Wainscotting.

J.Gambolputty: Erm, I really can't tell my all time favourite episode, there's just too many of them and I possibly will change my mind in a few days, but after a loooooong consideration, I ended up with....

Episode 34: The Cycling Tour. And why? Because ep. 34 is not quite like the others, it's sort of 'almost a movie' and I like that. It has one main character (Pither) throughout the whole episode. (of course there's other ones too, but you got the point, right?)

Episode 21. Well, it has quite a lot of my favourite sketches, like Archaeology Today, the Silly Doctor sketch, Mrs Thing and Mrs Entity, the Beethoven sketch and of course the Poofy Judges!

(If you'd allow me to say three of my favourite episodes, I would have said the upper ones and Light Entertainment War, 'cause it has Woody and Tinny Words, Anything Goes In and the one where Graham says 'Bloody repeats!' and Gilliam is dressed as some kind of arabian(?) :D But I've already broken the rules by saying two of my favourite episodes, so I'll shut up now and just say ep. 21 and 34)

Yay, Light Entertainment War! That remote control thing is just hilarious. Gilliam always got the fun parts ... XD

And then of course there's Mrs Elizabeth the Third proving why the Public are Idiots, which is utterly hysterical. And Neil Innes with When Does A Dream Begin, which is adorable and made me fall head over heels in love with him for a day or two.

Anyway, we are talking about my favourite episode here, and I could go on far too much about it, so maybe I'll stop now. Right! On with the pixie hats! And order in the skating vicar! And...

Basingstoke in Westphalia? Why did they give him a special pair of gaters?

J.Gambolputty at 11:22 am January 20

Well... He used to do things for them.

Lvndr HppE at 4:16 pm January 21

What kind of things? He used to . . . oblige them in a special way.

Here Comes Another One at 10:08 pm January 21

Did he ... touch them at all?

J.Gambolputty at 6:08 am January 22

He used to ram things up their -- !!

All right all right! No need to spell it out! What has the accused got to say?

the_thina: I like one in the first season a lot, I think its called "how to recognize different kinds of trees from quite a long way away" but Im not 100% sure. and I do remember I liked "light entertainment war" in the last season.

Tanya_Birklid19: My favorite episode really has to be ep 9, because it has got to be the silliest episode they've ever done.

But for the sketches, Woody and tinny words is my favorite sketch, followed by Penguin on the telly, *slight pause* I know there's more, but apparently they aren't coming to mind. Hhmm. . . oh! Gumby brain specialist is one of my fav sketches. . . Upper Class Twit of the Year. . . *short pause* I can't think of anything else.

Oh, Episode 9. Brilliant. The only thing I don't like in that is "The Visitors." Chapman's entrance at the end of "Llamas" has to be one of my all-time favourite Python moments.

I should put that on a shirt.

Graham on motorbike it´s hilarious

the_thina at 9:52 am January 11

I think its just a moped. :P

Mrs Attila the Hun 93: Favourite eps? Ooooh, tricky one.

It would be between (long list coming up): Deja Vu, The Buzz Aldrin Show, Archaeology Today, How Not To Be Seen, Royal Episode 13, Blood, Devastation, Death, War and Horror, The War Against Pornography and Party Political Broadcast.

(If you notice, the majority are from Series 2)

If I had to choose, How Not To Be Seen would just nick the top spot.

Johnnyrose: My favourite is ... definitely... all!

TheSister91 at 9:00 am January 08

I agree with you JR.. all the episodes are sacred, all the episodes are good.. if an episode goes wasted God gets quite irrate! xD

Jatta: oh dear, this calls for a Monty Python marathon... and probably I'm still unable to make up my mind :D but who cares :)

Here Comes Another One: Thanks for starting this thread, I think it's a good idea because mostly we talk about favourite sketches or snippets, and I at least (and clearly I'm not the only one) have a few whole episodes that I'm really attached to.

I did say this in another thread, but it's right on-topic here! I have 3 equal favourites: Deja Vu, The Cycling Tour and The Light Entertainment War. If I really had to pick a favourite, The Light Entertainment War would edge it, but only just.

arkennedy: At first I thought I'd say Episode Thirty-seven because it has Dennis Moore, however, Episode Fifteen has The Spanish Inquisition and Man's crisis of identity in the latter half of the twentieth century has Confuse-a-Cat so I think it's going to take me awhile to decide.
