Music

A couple of things I've been reading lately inspired this thread. One was in the questions thread, where someone pointed out that most Python fans are also Beatles fans. The other is the well documented connection between Python and The Beatles. So I thought we could talk about our favourite music. I'm a list maker, so here are a few from me:

Yey!!

Here Comes Another One: Anyone know George Harrison's Brainwashed album? I'm listening to 'Run So Far' from it right now, it's great! I'd forgotten all about it.

sadly, I dont have any of georges solo-albums, juts johns... dont have any of maccas or ringos solo-work either, but never where so inetersted in them. but george as a solo-artist I do like, so I have been thinking for a long time I should buy some of the solo-albums, but not sure wich I should start with... even if Ive been thinking a lot of starting with "all things must pass"

I have that album. I think I bought it shortly after George died. "Pisces Fish" is my favorite, because I'm also a Pisces.

"Marwa Blues" is my fave.

Thina, All Things Must Pass is a great start. It was my first George solo album too. I got it when I was 15 for Christmas and I just remember sitting in my room with my mum's CD player and remote control, and just playing it endlessly, especially Disk 1. These two are my favourite songs from it, at least at the moment.

Oh yes, and have you heard "All Things Must Pass" demo from the Beatles Anthology? I like it heaps better than the album version, it's so haunting.

And on that subject ... great demo version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Tanya_Birklid19: OMG peeps! Guess what? So I have a ukulele and I found chords for 'The Lumberjack Song' and 'The Universe Song'! I was so happy!! I figured out chords for 'I've Got Two Legs' once upon a time so I'll have to write those down.

By the by, my college theatre department is putting on 'Oklahoma!' in February, and now I thought of what if Rogers and Hammerstein musicals were Pythonesque? Or what about Sondheim, Webber, and countless of other big musical creators? Just putting it out there.

I lean towards casting in these situations. Eric Idle starring in 'Chicago,' for starters ... we know he didn't mind wearing suspenders ...

And of course 'The Sound of Music,' now let's see. Jones as Maria, since he could squeal the songs the most effectively. Chapman as the Captain. Cleese as Uncle Max, not quite sure why but it seems to fit somehow. Idle as the seedy butler, à la his announcer character. Chapman as the housekeeper, pepperpot of course. Palin and Jones as Liesel and Rolf. Idle as Frederich because he's a bit of a girl. And Tim Brooke-Taylor guesting as the Baroness, and probably the Mother Superior as well.

Gilliam as Gretel, going up the stairs on his bum ... 'the sun has gone to bed and so must I ...'

And how to Pythonise the story? 1, when they're throwing the ball back & forth, it knocks off people's heads & limbs. A bit predictable perhaps ... 2, when the kids are up the trees, they fall out, and after they've fallen out all sorts of other people fall out as well. 3, the Nazis would have to have a cabaret scene. 4, when the Mother Superior finishes 'Climb Every Mountain,' the knight with the rubber chicken turns up and hits her over the head.

Or maybe something like 'Fiddler on the Roof' could be 'Gumby on the Roof.'
