A tribute to Terry Gilliam (Marrakech International Film Festival)

Marrakech International Film Festival

Amongst the festivities, the Marrakech International Film Festival also pays tribute to strong personalities throughout the world of cinema. This year six people from four different continents have been selected to receive the special honour, reflecting the festival's position as a world cinema's meeting point.

Looking at the festival's flair for the eccentric, it seems natural that yesterday's tribute was in honour of US writer and director Terry Gilliam, creator of films like Brazil and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, to name but a few.

To honor the impressive career of this American director, he was awarded by the hands of the president of the jury, Emir Kusturica, the star of the festival, amid the applause of the audience.
