Meet the Other Pythons

October 27, 1939. War ravishes the face of Europe as Poland is torn apart by Soviet troops on one end, the invading German army on the other.  Some 600 miles to the North, John Cleese remains innocent of  the horror of war, having just been born. Unintentionally the tallest member of the Pythons, Cleese attended Cambridge in pursuit of a law degree. The inevitable corruption of college life followed its course and he woke up one morning to find himself still tall but appearing in various theatrical revues and hardly practicing law at all. His ability to satirize characters that were pompous, aristocratic or very tall inevitably led him to television, a medium much noted at he time for its lack of silly walks and dead parrots.  Apres Python, as the French say, Cleese wrote and starred in "Fawlty Towers", produced a series of industrial training films, co-authored two books on family relationships and wrote, starred in and co-directed the Academy Award nominated "A Fish Called Wanda", while still maintaining a fabulous height of 6' 4 ¾".  More recently, he's appeared in his one-man show (est.)" John Cleese — His Life, Times and Current Medical Problems" as well as in such "indie" films as "Shrek 2", "Die Another Day" and "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'.

Fun facts:
Cleese is the only Python to have a species of lemur named after him..
His family name was originally "Cheese".
(Really, I couldn't make that sort of thing up.)
