Who Thinks Eric Idle Should Be Playing Rincewind Instead Of David Jason?

I seen a few clips of this hear and there, and as an avid Discworld fan, I shall watch this when it comes out over Easter. However, as Rincewind is my favourite Discworld charcter, and Eric Idle is my favourite Python, I was overjoyed when he voiced Rincewind on the two Discworld Playstation games. I think he did a wonderful job. Tony Robinson does a fantastic job on the Audiobooks, but I just don't see David Jason as Rincewind. He was great as Albert in The Hogfather, but to me Eric Idle is how Rincewind should be done. What does everyone else think, and does anyone know if Eric Idle was even approached? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Votes: 0 ![]() Lawliet Can we have your liver?

If Eric Idle came singing out of my fridge I would most likely donate my liver when asked... As for Mr. Idle's voice on the game... They so should use his. And I could never stretch that enough. Like gna said it's very distinctive and you gotta love that accent! "Know what I mean? Wink wink. Nudge nudge. Say no more! Say no more!" ![]() Mr Smoketoomuch Ah. Sorry, let me make it a

Ah. Sorry, let me make it a bit more clear. There is a new TV adaptation of The Colour Of Magic, the first Discworld book, not a game. David Jason is playing Rincewind. Its on Sky One this weekend... ![]() reapergirl But the old 90's Discworld

But the old 90's Discworld video games did have Eric as Rincewind... Comment viewing optionsSelect your preferred way to display the comments and click "Save settings" to activate your changes. |
Eric Idle should play Eric Idle...
Having worked WITH him... I can say for many years afterwards it took me some time to not prick up my ears when I head his voice from the other room if the radio was on, and he was doing a spot... I swear, he's got the most distinctive voice. It's wonderful, and irreplaceable.
Once he lends his voice to a character, you shouldn't have someone else do the book version... it's just odd.
The one exception (and there is ALWAYS and exception)is Rutlemania. Because the band portraying the Rutles are SO good, and that it's interspersed with actual Rutle footage. As a Rutles fan, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to suspend reality... (OK, reality of a 'Spoof band' is an odd reality indeed, HOWEVER...) I couldn't help but sing along, and thoroughly enjoy myself (and that was just at rehearsals...)
SO... there's MY opinion... It, plus $4 will get you a Decaf vente percent vanilla latte...
(yes... I have to switch to decaf....)
