To simplify filling out your Member Profile, we have split the Edit Profile section (http://pythonline.com/profile/edit) into five sections: Personal, Interests, Education and Work, Contact and Custom. You can fill them out or edit them in order or as you see fit. When you click on the Edit Profile tab you will be taken to the Personal section where you will see a set of links similar to this:
| Step 1 |
Step 2 |
Step 3 |
Step 4 |
Step 5 |
| |
| Personal |
Interests |
Education and Work |
Contact |
Custom |
You can navigate from section to section by either clicking on the Step or the section heading. Personal, Interests, Education and Work and Contact are common to all MashCast channels; Custom is specific to pythonline.com. Saving the information entered in each section is easy, scroll to bottom of the page and press either the Save and View Your Profile button or the Go to Next Step... button to save your changes. Click on a heading below to display information about that section.
Avatar: The Avatar section is a duplication of the Avatar section in Account settings and works the same:
Scroll down to the Picture heading. Select an image to upload using the Browse.. button to the right of the Upload picture field (or type its path such as C:\mydocs\pics\me.jpg into the field). Images must be JPEG,GIF or PNG files with a 30Kb size limit. Scroll to bottom of the page and press the Submit button. If you wish to remove your Avatar, select the Delete picture checkbox, scroll to bottom of the page and press either the Save and View Your Profile button or the Go to Next Step... button to save your changes. Find the node ID of the image, MashCast or video you wish to put in your Station (what your Caster is called when people see your Member Profile). you can find the node id in the URL of the post you wish to use. The URL would look something like this: http://pythonline.com/node/1234 , with 1234 being the node ID. At present you can only see node IDs of your own posts. Or if you like a friends video, ask them for the node ID. In the future it will be possible to easily put ANY node into your Station. You can either press either the Save and View Your Profile button or the Go to Next Step... button to save your changes now or continue to fill out the rest of the Personal section before saving your changes. If you would like to not save changes ,simply use the links at the top of the page to navigate to another section.

Just below the Picture heading, is the Private message settings. Private messages are a site wide messaging system for pythonline.com. The Aggressive notification of new messages feature alerts you at the top of every page that there are unread messages waiting for you. It can be turned off by unchecking the Aggressive notification of new messages checkbox. You can also get alerts sent to your email address or not by selectin one of the three (Never, Daily, Every message) Receive e-mail for unread messages: radio buttons. After editing your Signature , scroll down the page and press the Submit button to save it.
There are two checkboxes in this section. If you select Email Opt-out, you will not get any promotional information or newsletters from pythonline.com. You will get account related emails from us. Note that while your e-mail address is not made public to other members of the community, privileged users such as site administrators are able to contact you even if you choose not to enable this feature.
