Hello I am a maniac monty python fan that was blessed to find this amazing site that has all about those six crazy men!!
Aww, thank you so much! I had a lot of fun on the weekend - the biplane ride was incredible! A bit cold, but they gave me a flying jacket and everything. I can't wait to do it again! :) You're right about art, I think a lot of it is down to practice. YouTube has some amazing lessons... even ones for sitar, which is really helpful! Those are some excellent books you're reading. I've been meaning to read The Hobbit again. And Persuasion is an absolute classic. Bet you'll pick up some great books in London, how exciting! I'm very jealous. My family live in Kent, but I haven't been back for a long time. Have you decided where you are going to stay and visit? There's so much to do there!
That's very impressive! I love the mandolin, especially. How long have you been playing for? I play the guitar, bass and sitar, but only "by ear". I'd love to get lessons, but it's hard to find a teacher nearby! (And then there's the cost...) Really enjoying the Peter Cook book, the pictures in it are fantastic. :) Are you reading anything at the moment? I haven't been up to much, but it was my birthday today - got some nice presents! I'm celebrating this weekend, and taking a trip in an old wartime biplane. You get to wear goggles and everything! I'm really excited. Will have to practice my banter. :) Aw, sorry to hear that you're bored, I hope something fun turns up soon! You must be looking forward to your Paris holiday. Are you looking for any job in particular?
Oh wow, that's really exciting! So you play an instrument? I'd love to be accepted into a music academy, but I don't qualify yet. I have to go back and finish my high school exams. (sigh) At the book fair I got "So Farewell then" (by Wendy Cook), Eric's "Greedy Bastard Diaries", "Python: Just The Words", "Life of Michael" and "Life of Python"... and even more Spike Milligan books! I wish you had a book fair to go to, I think you'd love it! :) Haha, I know what you mean about money. Will you still go on your trip eventually? I'm very jealous, hope I get to do some traveling soon (maybe around my birthday). Have you been up to much else lately?
Hi there! It's been a while... very sorry for the late reply, it's been really busy over here. You must be so glad to have your exams all finished! I'm thinking about studying for university entry, too. How was your holiday? Have you taken your trip around Europe yet? Must be such nice weather to travel in right now. And yes, it definitely feels like winter here! The book fair was so much fun; I "saved" another Peter Cook-book, and a few Python ones, too. :) Hope you're enjoying your break!
Hello again, so lovely to hear from you. I saw your post on the boards as well, I bet you can't wait for your exams to be over. How are you planning to celebrate? I'm sure you'll do well, as you've been studying so hard! And listening to all those Python songs. :) I'm doing okay, thank you. It's much cooler here now... have been saving up money for a book fair on the weekend, hopefully I'll "rescue" some more comedy books there. Anyway, wishing you the best of luck for tomorrow. You can do it! :)
Oh dear, I was so sure that I had replied to your last message. I'm sorry! How is this year treating you? And how has school been so far? Not too stressful I hope.
Mrs Cutout is truly one of my most enduring memories from watching MP back in the day. I can't (as yet, not fully trolled my own new refound boxed set)find the sketch I sketchily remember "My brain hurts & her from number 10 got a new brain why can't I get one too" anywhere, perhaps I only dreamt it?
Hello! Yes, we've had some terrible flooding here... hope your relatives were okay, though! Been pretty busy myself, are you back at school soon?
It IS getting pretty warm over here, though it's nothing like the Sahara yet! What's it like over there? And how was your Christmas? I got some more Spike books, going to need a whole bookshelf dedicated to JUST his work shortly! And a happy new year to you, too! :) Can't believe 2010 went by so quickly...
Hello again, just dropping by to wish you a happy Christmas! :D
Oh, any excuse to watch Sahara again! And poor John... I'll be sure to stop by and use your time machine, maybe we could try and save him? Wonder what he'd be doing now if he were still around. (George, too - though, have you seen his son? He looks more and more like his father as years go by!)
Maybe it's just resting? Haha, just think, if Greece DID turn into the Sahara, there's a good chance of Mr. Palin filming a documentary there. :) Well, I guess we'll just have to build a time machine! And when we get back to the future, we can sell books about our time-travels on Amazon. ;)
I guess seeing the play is the closest we can get to actually seeing Pete and Dud for real... think we were born in the wrong decade! Pretty sure Amazon UK ship worldwide, I'd be happy to help if you come across any problems. Is it really that warm over there? Wow! It's heating up here too, almost kind of wish I was in Reykjavik right now - cold enough to freeze your wrists off! And you get to celebrate Icelandic Honey Week. :) (haha, "Africa dust", we just had a dust storm so I can totally relate!)
Ahh, that seems like a shame... they both led full and interesting lives - and that's without even getting into their comedic talents! Would have been a good opportunity to put together a decent film. I'll still hire it out, for sure! I'd heard about the play, it had some really good reviews! You can pick up a relatively cheap copy of "Only Twin' on Amazon UK, I think.. (I've got the one with the black and white cover, just love that picture. :))
Oh, I hope you get the book, it's definitely worth having. All Things Must Pass is one of my favourites - some amazing musicians on there, too! I haven't seen 'Not Only But Always' yet, is it any good?
Ahh, I don't have that book! Maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas, it sounds really good. :) I got "Tragically I Was an Only Twin" most recently, brilliant stuff. And I know, so frustrating when all you have is YouTube clips to survive on! Do you have a favourite solo Beatles album at the moment?
Lennon's books remind me of Spike at times! They both did pretty funny drawings, too. I agree though, Paul was the best all-around musician - do you like the solo Beatles stuff, too? I've been listening to a lot of George's stuff lately, but I used to play "Ram" to death when I was younger. :) What book did you get on Pete and Dud? (You should think of it as a long-distance rescue, haha.)
Oh, that really sucks! I had to get the CDs sent to me from the UK. I'd be happy to upload a few more episodes to YouTube if you'd like, they're so much fun... Bwian definitely approves. ;) The books I find are usually hidden away in dusty thrift stores, such a shame (but a good excuse to rescue them all, haha). Have you seen Lennon's appearance on "Not Only... But Also"? Sometimes I think he should have been a comedian!
I do have a couple of episodes on CD, but I found the rest online. Have you heard much of the show? It's incredibly good! And I adore Pete and Dud! I guess you're a fan, too? Is English comedy very popular in Greece? (The time difference is a little weird, I'll admit! Now it's morning here!)
Very good, thanks! It's getting late over here, but I'm staying up listening to a bit of 'I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again'. What about you? :)
